Special Taurus Cloud images for Private Locations

The JMeter-only and empty Taurus Cloud images provide alternatives to the standard image. These images let your organization reduce the third-party executors bundled in the Taurus Cloud image, which can reduce CVE findings for components you do not use. The empty image downloads a supported executor when a test starts. Neither image is guaranteed to be free of CVEs.

JMeter-only image

The JMeter-only image includes the latest JMeter and core Taurus functionality. It does not bundle other executors, although some executors can be downloaded into the container when a test requests them. This image can reduce the number of CVE warnings, but it still contains CVEs.

Download the JMeter-only image manually. Crane does not automatically update it. If you download the regular Taurus Cloud image and assign it the same taurus-cloud:latest tag, it can replace the JMeter-only image for later runs.

Empty image

The empty image contains only essential components. When a test starts, Taurus Cloud downloads its executor into an ephemeral container. This image is intended to minimize CVE warnings from third-party components in the base image; it does not promise zero CVEs.

Examples of supported executors include JMeter and Gatling. The image does not support some executors that require system integration, including k6 and Playwright.

Taurus Cloud must be able to access the internet to download an executor. If your organization blocks internet access, configure an executor URL in the Taurus YAML file to download from an internal server. Taurus Cloud downloads the executor before each test run, which can increase startup time. To learn more, see the download-link option in the Taurus JMeter configuration.

Download and tag the empty image

The following example uses image version 2.4.523-empty. Use the version provided for your release if it changes.

docker pull gcr.io/verdant-bulwark-278/blazemeter/v4:2.4.523-empty

Tag the image as taurus-cloud:latest:

docker tag gcr.io/verdant-bulwark-278/blazemeter/v4:2.4.523-empty taurus-cloud:latest
