Configure Apple Devices for Proxy Recording

After you have created a proxy recorder, you can start recording performance tests with various devices or browsers, including Apple iOS phones or tablets, as described in this article.

On the left panel of the Proxy recorder, you should be able to see all your proxy settings:

It’s now time to configure your iOS device. Make sure your WIFI connection is turned on.

  1. Go to your device’s ‘Settings’, go to 'WIFI' and click on your local WIFI network.
  2. Click ‘Configure Proxy' and got to the ‘Configure Proxy’ settings page. By default this option is Off. Select the Manual option to enable the proxy.

  3. Enter data for the server and the port. Look at the proxy settings we provided earlier:
    1. For the server, enter the text displayed in the current proxy field.
      Don’t include the colon and port number at the end and don't include the "http://" prefix.
    2. Enter the port number in the ‘port’ field.
    3. Set the Authentication to "disabled".

  4. Open your mobile browser and enter the following URL: http://mitm.it.
    You should see various devices, including Android and Apple, on your screen. Select the Apple version for this case.

    NOTE: If you have an issue with the Apple certificate, you can also use the Other certificate here as well.
  5. IMPORTANT: For Apple/iOS devices, perform the following,
    1. Download the BZ certificate as instructed to your device.
    2. In your Apple device, go to: Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings
    3. Under "Enable full trust for root certificates," turn on trust for the certificate.

  6. Next, go back to your Recorder window/tab, and click that big red button at the bottom of your screen.

Now you are ready to start recording your session.
